Harold Krisel

Harold Krisel (1920 - 1995) was active/lived in New York.  Harold Krisel is known for Abstract painting.

Harold Krisel studied architecture in Chicago at the New Bauhaus from 1946-1949.  He became a member of American Abstract Artists in 1946, and retained this membership for the duration of his life. He was born in 1920 in New York and studied independently with Carl Holty and Harvey Holtzman. In 1942 he married Rose Breuer and the couple had three daughters. He served in the army from 1942-1945. In 1946 he moved to Chicago to study at the New Bauhaus on the GI Bill.

Krisel completed his graduate studies at the Illinois Institute of Technology in 1952.  He then worked as an architect at Skidmore, Owings and Merrill until 1966, when he joined the faculty of the High School of Art and Design in Manhattan where he taught architecture until his retirement in 1981.  Once retired, Krisel pursued his life long dream of dedicating himself full time to the fine arts, where he worked on commissioned sculpture, fountains, and graphics in his studio in Bridgehampton, New Y   ...  [Displaying 1000 of 1475 characters.]  Artist bio
